Hola a todos (de nuevo) :-)

Como ya sabéis, en breve este dominio únicamente redireccionará a abiquo.com. Por ello, este blog dejará de existir. Así que antes de que esto ocurra, Xavi y yo nos hemos repartido los posts: yo me he quedado con los míos (startups y negocios) y él con todos los demás (tecnología).

De todos modos, hemos creado el “abiquo blog” en el que de forma periódica iremos relatando (en inglés) nuestra vida empresarial, prototipos y desarrollos.

Gracias a todos por habernos acompañado hasta aquí. De veras. Ha sido un placer.

Think in grid wants to wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR

Yesterday, Angel and Miguel, creators of the development Flex framework called Guasax visited Think in grid. After a visit to CitiLab and greet people of iWeekend, we started to talk about Flex and how to apply it in our Grid Portal.

One point for Diego, who started to defend it a few months ago. Flex it’s a very good RIA solution, maybe the best. Angel and Miguel solved our questions and my concerns:

1º I don’t want to use another technology if I can solve it with Ajax, gwt or other java solutions. Flex surpass the probe. It’s easy to learn, and the most important thing, it’s very easy to integrate with a Java architecture (I am thinking in Spring + hibernate). And the development time is shorter than a RIA application using Ajax. The result, no color, flex wins.

2º The performance. Our web application have on-line chart pages, Many nodes to manage, etc. This page answered our concerns.

3º How much does it cost? Flex is open source. The development IDE (Standalone or eclipse plugin) is unexpensive. Maybe the bad news are that some interesting solutions (data management module) are expensive when the application is stored on a production environment. But we can avoid this module using our own solutions.

4º No limits. Easy development for rich interfaces with usability and design. All in one.

Thanks to Angel and Miguel, now we will start to work and “think in flex”.

As you can see, we are leaving our office (aka “geekquarters”). In the next days I will explain where will us be based and why is world’s most wonderful office.

think in grid is a R&D company founded by members of the GridCAT-I2Cat research group.
We have developed a fully new grid computing platform, which will be realeased with an open-source license on 2008 Q2.
We are looking for gifted engineers (with deep interests in distributed computing, AI or embedded devices) whom want to create the most used grid platform of the world.

Y con este post, cambiamos ciclo.

A partir de ahora, la mayor parte de nuestra información la colgaremos en inglés (que esperemos no sea engrish). Los motivos son bastante obvios :P Entre hoy y mañana estará subida la versión inglesa de la web, y no debiéramos tardar mucho en tener una web en condiciones.

No hemos decidido que hacer con los posts publicados hasta el momento, si dejarlos por aquí o que cada uno se lleve los suyos a su blog y montar un planet. ¿Alguna sugerencia?

Me aterra que este blog pierda su caracter frikistartupero :/ De todos modos, seguiré publicando “as usual” en externalidades.

En la publicación de Julio de la revista de ERCIM (European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics) han incluido una sección especial sobre computación orientada a servicios.

Os recomiendo leer la introducción y, si os interesa, descargar la revista (pdf).

Si sacamos algo de tiempo, comentaremos algunos artículos. Los hay ciertamente interesantes.
